Hi All

I need some tips on how to improve & maintain my posture.

I work from home and have to be on standby 24/7, Thus making it hard to go to the gym.
I walk/jog about 3km on the treadmill everyday, but since I sit in front of my PC 8 – 12 Hours per day, I’ve noticed that my posture is getting worse every day. I bought myself a quality office chair that supports my back but still find myself bending over my keyboard when I’m not concentrateting on sitting up straight.

though I’m still young its not effecting my immediate health, I am concerned that I might develop lower back and neck problems later on on life.

What specific exercises or tips can I follow to help me regain & maintain a healthy good looking posture so I don’t end up with a hunch back?
okey – Maybe I didnt make it clear, I don’t sit infront of my PC just for fun. I WORK infront of my PC 8 – 12 hours a day.

i have had some back pain for a couple of weeks now. i am 15 years old, and for a long time i have been cracking my joints (back & neck mostly, sometimes my knuckles). about 3-4 weeks ago i started to feel a pain in my lower back, mostly on the left side. it feels like sore muscles, but when i had someone massage it, the pain didnt go away, and the massage didnt help at all. that pain went away, only a little. but now there is a pain in my upper back. i used to get this pain when i was younger, but i was always able to crack my back or neck to get the pain to go away. also, when i go to feel two vertebrae on my back, there is a very large gap in between them. is this bad? another pain i am feeling is in the middle of my back, where the big gap between my vertebrae is. its more uncompfortable than it is painful. is this bad? is it because i have been cracking my joints for so long? is it bad to crack your neck and back? is it bad to crack your knuckles? help!!!!!!

…and one of your office employees had a slight back problem?

Would you:

A) – Risk a lawsuit against your business by taking their job away, saying they shouldn’t work anymore, and that they are too unhealthy (and saying this with no medical expertise)

or

B) – Simply accommodate them with one of those back support cushions for the worker’s chair

My employer basically did the first option above, even after my doctor said I am capable of working in an office environment. Plus, I’m also healthy enough to attend college classes.

I was supposed to go into mediation with them, but now they are unwilling, claiming that they didn’t discriminate against me. They are acting like they have all the power in this situation.

I guess my employer thinks that discrimination only happens among races, religion, nationality, age, & between men & women. Businesses can’t discriminate over disabilities, either, if the job isn’t physically demanding (which mine wasn’t).
No criteria was changed after I got the job. Also, I didn’t demand anything…unless you count that an employer be fair. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities ACT) says that most accommodations will not financially burden a company. And if someone isn’t even disabled, why should a company (owned by someone with no medical expertise) label them that way? The company I was employed at was a small company. The company has nothing to do with the medical field. Also, judging from meeting with the owner in person, she herself has no medical knowledge…outside of the average person’s knowledge.
That’s true…they don’t HAVE to keep me. BUT…when the reason for dismissal was based solely on their assumptions of my health. And my doctor would know more than they do. I am a good worker…and I wasn’t told anything simple, like "the job just ended and I was laid off." The word "fired" was never used. Neither was "downsizing." If I was your employer, and I told you that you were too unhealthy to work, and your doctor said you could work, I would expect to be hearing from your lawyer. Just look up the website for Americans with Disabilities Act.

Obviously, some people aren’t going to understand until it happens to them.

Well ladies, just in the last week, I’m finding that I’m getting so big that getting out of low chairs or squishy chairs is tricky! In fact, I find that I go to stand up and fall back down into the chair – LOL!

So now I find I have to push off using the arm of the chair or something of that.

Did anybody else have this problem so early on? Or is now at 22 Weeks 1 Day not considered too early to experience this?

Also, this last week I find I have more pressure on my lower back. I find that I tilt back I guess to support the extra weight in my belly but as I have a previous lumber disk injury this makes my back feel achy and weak after not long on my feet at all. So working is harder too. Due to my previous injury I actually do no vacuming and mopping etc at work or at home to try help rest my back on doctors orders.

Did anybody else get this from my stage too?

Just so you know how big I am – here are two photos from a little bump photoshoot my friend did for me last friday at 21 Weeks 3 Days pregnant. I have always been big from early on in pregnancy by the way.

Oh, and also ignore how BIG I look. I’ve always been rather small, but the weight I have put (though not much) combined with no tone left from less exercise makes me look MASSIVE – EVERYWHERE! So not the best look!

The first photo shows how big my bump is better, but I love the second photo as a keepsake. My friend took some beautiful photos to remember this time – even if I’m not a fan of my full weight etc!

http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/ellieRAfan/Bump%20Photoshoot/?action=view&current=IMG_4103.jpg

Thanks guys for your opinions on this! X

I had ask a similar question before but I think wasn’t clear enough. In the last 5 days I started to get stomach pain & cramps and sharp back pain when I swallow food. Taking a sip of water helps with the feeling like the food is getting stuck. The pain only occurs when the food is being swallow, and not after I eat. I think its getting better with time but I’m not if it go away. I think I will see a doctor soon, but someone online told me most likely all the doctor will do is schedule me for testing a another week. I really want to know what are symptoms of since none of my symtoms don’t match any illness 100%.

Please help me, my back is seriously hurting me. It isn’t always hurting me, only when I use my laptop. It’s because of how I sit, but because of space and how everything is layed out I can’t sit anywhere else.

I don’t use my laptop on my lap because it gets too hot. So I have to use my laptop on a stand, and I have the stand on a small chair. So when I use my laptop I have to sit on the edge of my bed with the chair and laptop inbetween my legs. My back is seriously killing me, I know I’m damaging my back. Please help. It really hurts, especially the lower part of my back.

What can I do about this?

Please help, as I said I can’t use my laptop anywhere else because of space and it can’t go on my lap because it gets too hot.

I came across this lower back support product on Amazon. Does anyone on here think this would even help me? Is this the kind of thing I should be looking at. If not then please help me and point me in the right direction.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000G65LHK/ref=s9_simz_gw_s0_p121_t1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=0DYF6846FJV59Z8AW5ME&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938131&pf_rd_i=507846

Please help me, I’m only 19 years old. At this rate by the time I’m 21 I won’t be able to walk properly. Please help, I feel like my back is going out on me.

Thank you.

Thanks.
