Pontiac Trans Am WS6–Chicago Cars Direct

2001 Pontiac Trans Am with WS6 Performance Package…only 18K miles! Thankfully, there’s been much more to the Firebird than just its cornball association with Burt Reynolds (or even cornier relationship with David Hasselhoff in TV’s Knight Rider). As with its corporate twin, the Chevy Camaro, the Pontiac Firebird was born in 1967 to do battle with the original American sport coupe, the Ford Mustang. Although the sheet metal was virtually identical between the Camaro and Firebird, a different nose and tail, as well as slight differences inside gave the Firebird a little more excitement in the looks department. Coupe and convertible body styles tempted buyers. In the car’s early years, performance buffs gravitated to the Pontiac Firebird thanks to its enticing array of power plants that included the same 400 cubic-inch V8 used in the GTO. Pontiac even offered a high-output overhead-cam inline-6 in hopes of making the Firebird more appealing to those who preferred less weight, more nimble handling and a higher-revving engine. This was also the period when the legendary Trans Am trim first debuted, wearing white paint with two blue stripes running over the body. At the dawn of the 1970s, a redesigned Pontiac Firebird emerged, available only in a sleek coupe body style. But as that decade progressed, the Firebird’s performance diminished while body graphics and spoilers, as if to compensate, grew more extroverted. The third-generation Firebird appeared for 1982, wearing a

Not one of the most luxurious or refined performers but a charming car all the same. Wonderful exhaust note and truly accessible performance. Too bad Pontiac is no longer around.

the sad part about GM’s…5.7 liter…is if you had toyota or honda put a 5.7 liter engine in their car they would easily put out a ton more power.

My dad has the 2001 formula version of this, it still has the V8 and i love the sound that this car makes. ummmm no T-top, it has the oval dual exhaust which in my opinon looks better.

Nice video, but you have a few things incorrect. The 2001 TA’s came with an LS1 engine, not the LS2. Much different. The other things I see wrong with this car are the Hood, and the Ram Air Logos were White on the original car. Where are the trim items for the doors – this is not how the original 01TAs are. You mention that many of these are modified – this is one of them. I would make sure you let potential buyers aware of this – because if it’s not a real WS6 – your screwed.

I think it was a poor decision to discontinue this car. If Pontiac had kept the TA and not put money into the GTO (which to my understanding was a bad move) then maybe, just maybe….Pontiac might still be here.

But, no good complaining about what has already happened, as for what was done and cannot be undone. But, I’ve been wrong before.
