hi its best to do as much as possible swimmings really good just don’t go mad to soon, building your core muscles is really important you’ll no how much you can do but it takes time to repair the wound

hello sorry i’ve not heard of that, everyone is different it may be the best option for you? i’d take the advice of your doctor or consultant,i tried therapy first it did improve it , i suffered for years before i finally had surgery, but my job is quite physical and they recommended surgery in the end good luck

Hey videobones, thanks for the vid. I go in to have the same op on my left side in a few weeks. I have pain in my left leg and have been unable to sit or drive for nearly a year. Basically I’ve been lying down in 4 walls since January. I have had root block epidural injections( 2 x lots of 6) and been on loads of pain killers which can’t be doing me much good. I wasn’t worried about the op till the “what can go wrong” form, arrived to sign, lol. Seeing your vid has eased my anxiety. Thanks man.

Did you have a hospital stay? The doctor told me that I will go home the same day. How long did your surgery take? How big was the cut? I am having my surgery on Jan 5th 2010.

@pepgrl601 hi i did have a stay in hospital, but it was less than 24 hours and only because i had the op late in the afternoon, they did tell me its done differently in the states and you can normally go home in a few hours, it only takes 2hour tops prob less to do the op and i have a 2inch scar at most, hope this helps good luck

    Hi friends,
I had a discectomy two months back and i am doing qt well now. Almost no pain. I myslef am a physician and though my personal experience may help others. You may find may negative comments, reports of complications etc in forums. REMEMBER that is becuase only those who had some problems will only be coming back to these forums to detail it. The thousands who has a successful surgery moves on..so dont get disheartened. Ask your doc if u need any more details
    bye
    gud luck

Hi videobones I am 4 days post op now L5/S1 discetomy the best thing I ever did when I woke up in the recovery room I knew the pain was gone. Did a 2 mile walk today and feel great. For anyone who is having symtoms don’t put it off. You can spend years in pain and a fortune on Quacks without relief !

the only relief you get from sciatica is surgery i had my op yesterday and there is no pain in leg what so ever back a little sore but still got stitches in, but this is only way to stop sciatica once and for all… truly recommend surgery..

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has had a disc replacement? Also wondering if the disc repairs itself after the discetomy or if there’s further degeneration? I’ve just discovered I have a “protrubance” at L4/5 and a “Sequestration” at L5/S1… Sux to be me :(

  22. peterwalker841 says:

  23. ginger16970 says:

I just had this done after 8 months of pain due to prolapsed disc, my wound is a lot bigger though and I have 13 staples! wound is sore but the op was worth it. left foot still slightly numb though, does this improve?

  24. peterwalker841 says:

hi i had my lumbar decompresion surgery and also discectomy yesterday i went to theatre at 8:30 and got out of theatre @1pm( thats when I awoke) and was discharged @ 8:30 the same day. there was no catheter also the pain isnt as bad as i thought (it is painful but feels like someones kicked me in the back ) so not too bad at all . all the pain and pins and needles/numbness has gone from both my legs wow its amazing .also everyone @ james cook hospital, middlesborough absolutely fabulous.
