Cervicogenic Headache caused by poor posture?
Prolonged poor posture at the computer caused me cervicogenic headaches. I’ve been seeing a physical therapist and it has been helping. However, the problem is that whenever I use my pc the pain flares up and it’s undoing all the help that I’ve been getting from the therapy.
I no longer slouch at my desk. I sit perfectly straight with good lumbar support but spending even 10 minutes on the computer makes my headache and neck worse.
Perhaps I need to stop using my computer until I’ve recuperated?
I would try to to stop using it until fully recuperated. Also, make sure your computer station and screen is set up for maximum comfort. Eye strain may be contributing as well.
Once you are recuperated, make sure to take periodic breaks and stretch out your neck. In addition, neck muscle massage can help as well as a good neck pillow to sleep with.
Are you using a desktop PC or a lap top. If the latter, I would really recommend using a docking station and using a traditional screen. The top of the screen should be level with your eyes and about 24 inches away from your face and directly infront of you. Light can be another consideration…consider lowering the brightness on your screen and/or use a glare protector as necessary.
