28 Weeks Pregnant and severe low back pain?

I just hit 7 months pregnant and started having severe low back pain just on my left side. It hurts to walk or move my left leg. Even driving a car is painful. Is this normal or should I go to the hospital?

It could be just from your hips spreading but I would contact your ob! Good luck xoxo

Don’t take chances! Ask you doctor about it ASAP! It may be ligament pain, or you may not be drinking enough water, but don’t wait to find out, Please! Ask your doctor about it right away, go to the hospital if you have to. It’s not worth taking the risk, trust me!

i have the same pain but it is in my right leg my doctor told me that it is just the baby pressing down on your nerve ending in your leg. But yes you should go see if its anything bad or not

it sounds a lot like round ligament pain or possibly the baby being in a position that puts pressure on a nerve or two. you could call the doctor, but as long as you aren’t having actual contractions i wouldn’t worry too much. sometimes low back pain can accompany contractions, when this happens often the pain will start in the back and then wrap around to your lower stomach and harden your uterus. its likely that you have just gotten bigger, you are 7 months pregnant, and the weight is putting pressure on your muscles, ligaments and nerves that you aren’t used to and the feelings will pass.
if these pains are rhythmic or go away and come back you should call L&D but if it is pain that is persistent its likely harmless and if you are worried you can call your doctor. other than that you might try rotating ice and low heat on the painful area or take some tylenol for the pain.

That sounds exactly like my sciatica (nerve pain aggravated by your baby’s position and/or pregnancy weight). It’s completely normal. I would mention it to your doctor, who will probably give you a referral to a chiropractor. I’ve been seeing my chiropractor for quite a few months now, and it really helps! If it is, indeed, sciatica, it should go away when you give birth.

    Good luck!
