How do I avoid wrist soreness when typing?

I’ve recently started working as a freelance audio typist from home. I’ve got a good chair with back support and a good keyboard and one of those wrist pads that are supposed to help ease wrist pain, but I’m still getting so much pain after a few hours of typing! Is there anything else I should be doing? Does anyone know of any exercises that I can do to relieve the aches?

Thank you!

You probably have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome…I got this often from doing too much typing. Here is more info on this :

What I used to do is put a bandage at night to immobilize my wrist and hand, put some ice also, rest your hands every now and then…take a break. You can buy wrist splint (http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en&q=%22wrist+splint%22+&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi) at your pharmacy (without a prescription) to help keep your wrist in a good position. For more severe chronic symptoms, you can have cortisone injections, and ultimately surgery…

or if the pain is more in the thumb, it may be DeQuervain’s Tendinitis : http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art53923.asp

Does your wrist pad have cool gel in it. That helps me a lot.
Better yet there is a new keyboard out that is slim and waterproof. I have one at home and because your hands are flat there is no ache. Try local computer store.
