So, I’m building a chair similar to this one ( http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/05/21/icff-2008-colorful-felt-flip-chair/) but mines will have arm rests. Also, one of my arm rests will have a cup/mug holder. I printed out a guideline on standard chair dimensions, but I would greatly appreciate if any experienced chair builders or carpenters would give me their input.

Here’s what I want in my chair:
a cup/mug holder: How thick should my arm rests be?
a slightly slanted back, so people can relax: what’s a good angle?
How thick should my legs be?
Would I have to add extra support? If so, where?

Material wise, I’ll most likely be using wood. What is the best type of wood to use, especially for the legs. Are they expensive to buy? My teacher has tons of wood to use but I don’t know yet if that’s the right kind of material.

If you have any extra opinions or advice to make my chair better, it’ll be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

My little cousin has this stuffed giraffe chair that has metal poles in the legs and in the back so she can sit and play on it. As I said it is stuffed, its soft and plushy, but is strong enough to support me and I weigh 200 pounds. Lol. Anyways, I have a friend that has two boys that fell in love with it. I asked My cousin where they got it at, and he wasn’t sure, they had got it as a gift from a friend. Does anyone know where I can buy one at? Thank you.
No I do not have picture of it. I will try and get some tomorrow. But it looks just like a giraffe. You sit on it like you would if you were ridding a horse.

I use camp chairs (the newish folding x designs) all the time. The older ones I had were the best, back when they were a brand new idea I think they were built a little better… more comfortable and stronger.

Anyway, I need a folding lawn chair or two that I can use outside and sometimes inside. I was looking into some of those chairs that are becoming popular that you sit directly on the ground and they provide support. Basically they’re a style of bleacher chair that are now being marketed in other areas lol. The one my brother-in-law has is flimsy and I found uncomfortable, but some of the ones online don’t seem as bad. If they make one that’s actually comfortable and lasts I would be interested, but it’s hard to tell through reviews.

Basically I just need it to fold flat, or collapse some how, I need it to be strong, and I would like it to be comfortable.

I have a rather large chest and am finding it rather difficult to breastfeed my son. I can only nurse him if he’s in the football cradle position. When I have him in front on his side my breasts suffocate him and he keeps pulling off. Now that he’s getting big it’s getting more and more difficult to feed him because he’ll kick against the back of the couch or chair I’m using. I need the back support, too. I’ve tried feeding him without it and I can’t do it.

Have any of you had similar problems? What did you do?
Well, I did buy a breast pump but I couldn’t get any milk. The Medela- Pump in Style Advanced Shoulder bag one… according to the Breastfeeding Clinic at my hospital that I go to every Wednesday, I have very soft breast tissue and rather flat nipples. That’s why I wasn’t able to pump but was able to breastfeed because he is able to get to the nipple since it’s so soft.

I’m going to be starting independent studies soon which means I will be spending a lot of my time at my desk on my computer or doing homework, this is all well and good except my computer chair is incredibly uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time. It has even caused me to have back pain over time. Can you help me find a comfortable chair that will support being in for long hours? My price range is about 0-0, maybe a little more if you think it’s worth it. Thanks

Sorry that I’m putting this in health, but maybe some of you have issues with your back as well and have a preference of chairs you like
