How do I determine the amount of money after a car accident and I was already disabled?

I have been disabled and on SS for 6 years due to a spinal disease that they tried to repair through lumbar fusions (2) that never fused and made my pain chronic. It was tolerable with rx (morphine.and more..) That is until 2/21/08 I was hit by a teen and I saw him coming so I braced. Which made it worse. I went to my dr immediately and had a MRI (awaiting the results this friday).
I know the pain I have now is new and it is in addition to all the pain locations I had previously. Do I ask for money for pain and suffering since I have it already – it would cover additional pains. I know it is early but, I tend to freak a bit about my back. One wrong move and I am permanantely bedridden.
I now they will pay for all medical. Since I am unable to work – wages are not figured in. Any suggestions? I appreciate anyone helping – Thank You!

    Hi there,
Im not really sure what you mean when you say, you were hit by a teen and you braced… were you in a car? were they in a car and they hit your body? or were you both in cars?

But i’m guessing this is an accident on their behalf, but i wouldnt expect you’d be able to claim a massive sort of compensation, as it was an accident, and you clearly have a long history of chronic back pain, and this was affecting you before the accident happened.
You mentioned you have new pain due to the accident, which is expected, and unfortunate, and hopefully doctors will get you into the rehab system again to see if they can help in any way. If you have chronic pain, then they will be treating that with meds anyway, so let the doctors try to help with the new pains, and they should go as they will have only been caused by the accident, and the pain shouldnt have any reason to become a long term problem if it is treated.
Dont freak out about your back, its tougher than we think, I know youve had fusions, but keeping positive and active as best you can, can help with the management, and take your mind off focusing on the pain. we only have one life, and some are better than others, but dont regret not getting out and fullfilling yours, just because you have pain. beat the pain, dont let it beat you. x
