Can a back brace for scoliosis be seen under clothes?

I have to get a back brace because my spine is 36 degrees off. It’s the type that is custom made to fit your body.

I’m 13 and I’ve had a boston brace for Scoliosis for almost a year now (a year in April). I’m not gonna lie. It can be hard to hide it and I have always had sort of a preppy style where I wear a lot of tight clothes. Since I got the brace I haven’t been able to do that. On the bright side, babydoll tops are very in right now and those are something that hide the brace very well. Also, in the winter jackets in a size larger than you usually wear hide the brace rather well. Them main things you have to work on hiding that can be seen very easily is the part that comes up under your arm and the straps on the back. The brace tends to make your hips look a few inches wider too. It is not a fun thing to have to experience, but if u work hard u can still pull off great outfits while wearing it.

***Remember this: Most of the time I feel like its soooo obvious I’m wearing the brace and that I look fatter. But thats all in my head because no one else ever notices it. If u r ever feeling that it is totally obvious, remember that it is probably just you.***

Hang in there, if u never need anyone to vent to about having to wear the brace, my e-mail is soccerchic_102794@yahoo.com . It can be hard not having someone who understands what ur going through, and trust me, I DO!!!!

There are a few different kinds of braces. Out of the common types, the Milwaukee brace can definitely be seen. The TSLO brace (most common these days) is hidden by clothing unless you’re clothes are tight.
